I just got home from a long day of working on a PC running Windows XP. What a miserable piece of shit computer! The thing locks up frequently and you have to have so many anti-viral programs running in the background that it slows the machine way down.
My better half is sitting next to me complaining how his computer at work (also a PC) locked up three times today. The only thing you can do in this case is to hold the power button until the unit shuts off and reboot. Then it complains that Windows wasn't properly shut down. And, of course, anything you were in the middle of when it locked up is gone.
What a joy to come home to our almost new iMac computer! To date, there are no viruses that can successfully attack the Mac OS. The only thing you have to worry about are Macro viruses that attack Word documents, if you're running the Mac version of Office. We've never had a problem with this computer. On the other hand, our PC just had to have Windows reloaded--again!
My only complaint about the iMac really isn't about the computer itself. There are a lot of websites out there (Blogger included) that do no support Mac's Safari web browser. The easy fix is to use Firefox, which is far superior to Internet Explorer anyway.
Our iMac runs Mac OS X, the Tiger version. Next spring, Apple is planning to release the newest version of OS X. When it comes out, Apple will have released three new operating systems in less time than it's taken Microsoft to bring out Vista.
And when Vista finally does show up on the market, Apple will still be light years ahead of Microsoft, like they have been for so many years.

Try NeoOffice.
It's free. Very Mac-like. Has opened every 'Office' document ever sent to me. And has just been updated, yesterday. ;-) [MacUpdate.com]
